Background

BEC came into existence in 1988 as a community of schools who wanted to work collaboratively together. In January 2003, The Billericay Community Trust evolved from the Billericay Education Consortia into the Billericay Education Community. The Billericay Community Trust achieved Networked Learning Community status and were received funding and training from the National College of School Leadership for three years. The focus was :

  • To raise standards across all schools in English , Maths and Science
  • To develop school to school collaboration
  • To co-ordinate school improvement and BEC development plans
  • To promote distributed leadership for our staff in all BCT schools
  • To engage staff in a fuller , broader development programme by working collaboratively together

On 1st September 2009 10 of the BEC schools gained Trust status and by 1st December 2009 all BEC schools had either gained Trust status or were Associate members of the trust. The Trust is called Billericay Community Trust (BCT).

The head teachers of the fifteen schools that comprise BCT, meet termly as the Management Board and plan their priorities for the local area. These priorities are feed up to the Trust Board. The Billericay Community Trust's aim is always to promote high standards and collaborative working across the community and make an impact on children's education.
