Billericay Without Borders
The Billericay Community Trust's theme for the year is entitled 'Billericay without Borders'. With the advent of the Olympic Games coming to London, Billericay's successful links with Billerica, Massachusetts, USA; Fishers, Indiana, USA and Chauvigny, France The Billericay Community Trust thinks that it is in a good position to explore the cultural diversity within the town. International Week (12 - 17 February 2011) was a part of the wider Billericay Without Borders project. The Week was launched at Mayflower High School with a series of community workshops collectively entitled 'A Window on China'. Pupils across Billericay celebrated internationalism within their own schools during the week. The Week culminated in a Show Case at Emmanuel Church where pupils demonstrated some of the exciting activities that had taken place. The International Week was such a success that The Billericay Community Trust decided to make it an annual event. Plans are already being developed for the 2012 International Week. Watch this space!
